Allaboutfloors.wordpress.com is naturally all about floors. But not any type of floors. It’s about flooring from renewable resources such as bamboo, cork, rice and coconut. These are renewable resources because they grow quickly and provide a steady supply of material that if harvested correctly does minimal damage to the environment. It is also about flooring from recycled sources such as recycled glass and reclaimed hardwood.
These two sources of flooring – from renewable resources and from recycled products are covered by the term sustainable flooring. Namely, flooring that is made from a sustainable material, that is eco-friendly. Normal hardwood flooring does not fit this category because it takes 50 to 120 years for a hardwood tree to reach maturity.
